What is Massage Therapy?
The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain (Massage Therapy Act 1991).
Along with the physical effects of massage therapy comes the reflex effects. A reflex effect is caused by the body’s nervous system sending the message of touch along a nerve and producing various effects in any zones supplied by the same spinal cord segment. The effect of a soft soothing touch is a calming and relaxing one..
My Approach
I believe that in order to rehabilitate or maximize a persons wellness through massage, relaxation must be incorporated. Stress is a main cause of much of the tension, pain, and ailments in the body, so why not rid the cause before treating the issue?

IN OFFICE MASSAGE

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a mini 15 minute break in the middle of your busy day at work? In addition to that break, how much better would it be if you got to have a treatment to rejuvinate yourself and make you feel totally refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day? Massage can do just that. Onsite office massage is a service that more offices should use, because on top of all the benefits of massage and touch, it is convenient and very easy to fit into a busy work day.
Benefits of Office Massage
- Convenience
- Relaxation in a busy environment
- Increases office moral
- Decreases stress, blood pressure, and health issues
- Increases productivity
How It Works
With all your coworkers, a day and time which works best is decided on which you would like to all receive massage. Then, you decide how many times a month you would like me to come. Once these decisions are made, those time slots are dedicated to you and your office. You then choose the amount of time you would like the treatments to be and we can create a schedule of the employees in an order of who would be first, second, third, etc. Once all that is set up, you’re work is done! The most you will have to do is fill out a simple health history form for my massage records so I know I am not harming you with treatments or I know if I have to modify any techniques. It’s that simple! In-home treatments will include a $.54 per km travel fee. This fee will be included in the massage pricing on the receipt as part of the massage so insurance will cover the expense.

ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Samantha and I am a Registered Massage Therapist currently residing in Vaughan, Ontario. I graduated from Sutherland Chan School and Teaching Clinic in 2012, registered and in good standings with the CMTO. I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of some amazing outreaches for massage therapy, such as at the Princess Margaret Hospital in the palliative ward, Toronto General Hospital Pre/Post-surgical patients, and Lyndhurst Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Centre. I have also volunteered for the Relay for Life in 2012, and the Meta Foundation Walk, Relay, and Ride in 2013.
Massage therapy is not only my career, but also my passion. I love helping people and making a difference in their lives, so when I found massage therapy and saw the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional differences it made in people’s lives, I knew it was what I wanted to be doing. When I am not working, you will probably find me working out, enjoying the outdoors, or playing with my dogs.
